Lorie E. Steinhauer received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and English and her Masters in Psychology from the University of Southern California. She received her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Steinhauer was a tenured high school teacher and school psychologist. Ms. Steinhauer practices in the areas of litigation, constitutional law and special education before state and federal courts, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, State Tenure Commission and the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.

Ms. Steinhauer counsels clients in all aspects of special education, including such issues as accommodations, IEPs, and student discipline. She represents School Districts in due process hearings, IEP team meetings, and mediation. She regularly conducts seminars and in-services in the areas of special education, constitutional law, and student rights. Ms. Steinhauer is a member of the Litigation Sections of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association, Michigan and National Councils of School Attorneys, Oakland County Bar Association and the Michigan Association of School Boards. Ms. Steinhauer is also admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
