Julia M. Melkic earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University, where she graduated cum laude. While in law school, Ms. Melkic served as a Senior Articles Editor of the Wayne State Law Review and published an article regarding business improvement districts in Detroit. Ms. Melkić was co-counsel in a landmark Michigan Supreme Court ruling (Michigan Gun Owners, Inc and Ulysses Wong v Ann Arbor Public Schools and Jeanice K. Swift, July 27, 2018) that upheld Ann Arbor Public Schools’ Board Policy prohibiting visitors from “open carry” at school except as permitted by law.
